A visit to the Eastleigh Remembers event today, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One. There were touching and poignant speeches from The Worshipful the Mayor of the Borough of Eastleigh and a representative of the Royal British Legion.
The event had lots to see and included a wonderful Vera Lynn tribute singer by the name of Diane James.
I was pleased to see the Defence Medical Welfare Service there. They are a charity that provides 24/7 welfare support to members of the Armed Forces and their families recovering from injury or illness in hospital or recovery centres. You can find them here: https://www.dmws.org.uk/
It was also good to see One Community there as well, an independent charity providing voluntary sector support, community development and home services. They are special to me as my family have been benefited from their work. You can find them here: http://1community.org.uk/
It was a great event and as a family we enjoyed the day. We must remember those who have died in serving their country. We will remember the suffering and the sacrifice of so many and we must remember in the hope that there will be peace.
